Dover is England's busiest ferry port and the gateway to the continent. By far the fastest and most frequent option is the ferry from Calais to Dover – just 90 minutes across the Channel, with up to 31 sailings a day.
If you travel from the north or the Netherlands, you can instead take the ferry from Dunkirk to Dover (DFDS, about 2 hours) – often a little quieter. Both routes end at the Port of Dover, the Eastern Docks.
